Ten Facts About Me

I got to know my friend Dannie through our adoption forum. She adopted her precious little girl through the state foster care system as an older infant. Dannie has a beautiful blog where she writes about her life with her little girl (fondly referred to on her blog as Tigger) at It’s You and Me Kid. She tagged me with this award earlier this week, along with a few other new bloggers out there. This looked like fun, and I thought it would be a neat opportunity for you to learn some things about me. In accepting this award, there are a few things I must do…

These are the rules:
1. Winners grab the image above and put it in your blog.
2.Link back to the person who gave you it.
3.Tell 10 things about yourself
4.Award 15 recently discovered bloggers.
5.Contact the bloggers you have awarded to let them know they have won.

Ten Things I Bet You Didn’t Know About Me:

1. I have played the violin since I was 11 years old. I continued to play in college for local symphonies and church orchestras, but put it away after I got pregnant with LB. Recently I had it restrung to start practicing again just for myself.

2. I rarely ever re-read books, but I’ve re-read every single one of the Harry Potter books at least three times a piece. I’ve read the sixth book four times.

3. I love indie films. I think the only thing I love more than independent films is a well-made documentary. Imagine my zeal when I discovered the brilliant mind of Christopher Guest.

4. I dedicated several of my summers to World Changers, a Christian mission organization. One year I put a roof on a house in Wyoming, another year I painted and decorated a women’s protective shelter, another year I helped host an art camp for kids in a homeless shelter.

5. My husband elaborately planned his romantic proposal to me in San Antonio, TX- the same place he first told me he loved me.

6. My dream when I was in high school was to write for Saturday Night Live. I would create story lines that became so popular with my friends that they would ask for their own hilarious story {starring them of course} for their birthdays instead of a gift.

7. I have a terrifying fear of flying that keeps me grounded. The last flight I went on was for my honeymoon in Disney World years ago.

8. I’m the most un-athletic person you’ll ever meet. Don’t get me wrong, I’m petite and fit, but I have never ever played on a sports team. Growing up, P.E. consisted of me faking headaches or cramps to get out of … everything. I’m not lazy, I just lack the competitiveness that goes into sports.

9. My celebrity love crush is John Krasinski. It teeters on the brink of obsession. I was actually sad the weekend he married Emily Blunt.

10. I can name all 50 states in alphabetical order. (When I mentioned putting this on my list, Travis said, “But do you know where they are?” Har har har…)

{11. I'm extremely geographically challenged.}

Okay, I won’t even come kind of close to calling out 15 bloggers. I don’t follow 15 blogs. I’ll call out the very few I follow. I need to get to reading other blogs!

  1. Mom

    You really will be in heaven next year. Rumors are that later this year the Muppets are releasing a new movie and that John Krasinski is in it.

  2. Sarah C

    #’s 10 and 11 absolutely cracked me up.

  3. I just found this! I’m going to play.
    The states in alphabetical order…I must know…did you learn the song? Alabama…Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado…Connecticut.
    Deleware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana…(ok. I’ll stop.)

    • Please do play!!! It was a fun entry. LOL and YES I learned the song in elementary school! Haha. I had NO CONCEPT of where the states were though. My grandmother sent me a link to an online homeschooling game where you place the name of states on a blank map, and I learned some that way. {that was very recent}
