I can hardly believe it, but my sweet boy is THREE years old today!
Three is such a fun age. He’s communicating so much now, and he loves to be silly. He’s always saying and doing the funniest things. We decorated the hallway {pictures to come} last night to be a special surprise for him this morning. However, he woke up at 2:30 in the morning {because mommy had the house WAY too cold} and I could hear him in the hallway yelling, “I’m so excited!!!” It was sweet. I was hoping to catch his reaction on camera this morning, and I didn’t get to, but at least I still didn’t miss it.
He’s grown so much in the past three years from his teeny tiny starter size, and I’m so proud of him. He never ceases to amaze me with his wit and cleverness. I get compliments all the time from people at church commenting on how well behaved and sweet he is. He loves to read, loves to make messes, loves cars, trains, and all things that go. He’s big into dinosaurs and loves reading a book about reptiles. And yes, he will now point at lizards and say, “Look, mommy! A reptile!”
He’s sneaky and funny. The other night while Travis was on the phone, Little Bug was chasing him around the house saying “BOOM BOOM ROOOOAAAARRRR!!!” Sometimes he’ll slip into what I call “turtle mode,” and he’ll crawl around announcing that he’s now a turtle. Because when you’re a turtle, it’s best to let people know.
He loves to tickle, rough house with daddy, and snuggle with mommy. He’ll crawl up in my lap and say, “Mommy, can I get cozy cozy cozy?” That means we snuggle under a blanket while watching TV or reading a book.
I really went through the sentimental weepiness of him no longer being a baby last year before his second birthday. This year, of course I’m sentimental about him being another year older, but I’m also really excited about all of the things he can do now. He’s so interested in learning, reading, coloring, and making things with me. He loves mixing up cookie dough and watching them bake in the oven. We sing songs and he loves learning the motions to all the songs I enjoyed when I was little. He’s always been super fun of course, but three truly is a magic number! It’s such a special age of discovery and excitement. His little personality is forming quickly, and he’s talking to me more and more throughout the day, which I definitely can appreciate.
I’m so thankful for my sweet boy and the joy he brings into our world. I don’t know what I’d do without him.
This is us at the St. Anthony hotel in San Antonio, where we stayed last month. Little was weirded out by the sweet man with theverynorthern accent who offered to take our picture on the grand staircase {hence the lack of a smile on his face}. Gotta love the Einstein hair. I’m going to trim it next week so it’ll curl more.
Happy birthday sweet boy! I love you so so much and am so thankful to get to be your mommy! The Lord has truly blessed me with you and I can’t wait to see all of the wonderful new things you learn and do this year.

Awwwe Happy Birthday little one!!!!! They grow up so fast!
I love you both so very much, and don’t worry too much about him growing up. The magic never ends as long as the love never ends.
