Yesterday we spent the morning doing a two-part project in honor of this week of Spring weather. I decided we should paint these tiny flower pots I found at the Dollar Tree store {3/$1} and then pick out a flower together from the nursery and plant it later this week. However, I stumbled on a cute idea on Pinterest that showed how to make little stamps out of bottle lids and foam stickers {which we have a drawer full of.} So we added that to our project. Little had a ball last week playing with shaving cream. I got the idea after I remembered my first grade teacher covering our desks with the soft white foam so we could “clean” our desks. I figured an activity involving shaving cream could clean the top of our dinner table at the very least. I had no idea it would be such a huge hit for him! Continue reading

I don’t think I really understood the uses or need for a sensory tub, but I decided to look into it to find some explanations for why so many preschool teachers use these hands-on teaching tools. I learned that it really isn’t about “teaching” them something or making something, but more about simply giving their little hands the opportunity to experience different touches, textures, temperatures, and to flex those little finger muscles to prepare for writing. I was won over by the pure fun of it all, so I set out last night to put together my own sensory tub for Little Bug. Continue reading

At one point last fall, I introduced the idea of a structured school time to Little, but it didn’t work out just yet. His attention span was still too short and he was just too fidgety {imagine that}, so I just decided I’d wait on the structured sit-down “school time” and instead continue doing crafts and fun things with him but not really focusing on any set curriculum until he turned 3. One of my nearest and dearest friends, Sarah, is expecting her first baby due in April. Travis and I prayed with them {Sarah and her husband Jimmy} for a LONG time for this sweet baby girl, and we absolutely cannot wait to meet her! I was so thrilled to be asked to help host Sarah’s shower, and I had a blast putting together the decorations.
