Waiting sucks…

Waiting sucks. Waiting for anything is hard, but waiting for a baby? It’s particularly rough. Anyone who has waited for a pink line on a pregnancy test or waited for that call in an adoption understands how nerve-wracking it can be. Continue reading

Back From a Blogging Break

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year! It feels good to be back!  I hit my one year anniversary over here on WordPress and decided around the holidays to take a small break from blogging. Continue reading

Where I’ve Been: Putting a Face on OCD and Anxiety Disorders

It’s been a while.

Even last month, when I did write, I wasn’t really here, was I? I didn’t feel here. In fact, for the past few months, I haven’t really felt like doing much of anything, including blogging. For the past few days, I’ve been thinking about this very post and trying to phrase it in just the right way for everyone out there, but I can’t quite seem to get the words out perfectly, so I figured sitting down and just writing was the best answer.

For nearly all of my life, I’ve struggled with a secret problem that most people -outside of only my closest family- are unaware of. I honestly can’t remember a time in even my earliest childhood when I wasn’t plagued by this problem in one way or another. Many times I thought I was going crazy, many times I may have actually acted crazy. But still, I kept my secret. Continue reading

First Possible Situation…

That we know of.

Let me clarify. Our agency may have shown our profile to 200 expectant women by now {crazy exaggeration} but we wouldn’t know it. Two days ago, I actually got an email from our director about a possible situation with an agency that they sometimes help who was looking for a family for a one month old baby boy. The fees were way too high with this other agency, so we couldn’t even consider it. However, this morning I got a call asking us if we’d like to be shown to one particular situation with a young lady expecting a baby boy. This one is through our own agency, and well within our budget. She’s healthy, baby’s believed to be healthy. She’s Caucasian, and baby is biracial {could be Hispanic/White or African American/White}. Everything sounds good. Continue reading

Adoption Goes Hollywood

The number of hit TV shows over the years that have featured adoption plot lines is actually growing. Adoption, orphans, and foster care plot lines are no stranger to Hollywood. Combine these creative adoption stories with images of Hollywood stars showing off their real-life adopted children, and America gets a very strange idea of how adoption works and what it is. Remembering September 11th

I’ve been on a slight hiatus from blogging for the past week as we adjust to our new schedule which includes Travis’s school, my school, and our at-home routine which was thrown off last week when LB’s molars came in and kept him up for several nights in a row. I promise to dive back in this week, because I’ve missed being here.

In the meantime, I wanted to extend my heart out to anyone who lost a loved one in the attacks on September 11th in 2001. Continue reading

I’m Not Perfect

Honesty seems to be the theme of the week. Molly over at Knocked Up Knocked Over has inspired me to share my own less-than-perfect image with my own readers.

Do you sometimes wish that every blog you read and drool over has a post titled “I’m Not Perfect”? I do. I’m a “blog stalker,” meaning I love finding beautiful new blogs with interesting content, beautiful pictures, or creative ideas. The blogs that draw me in tend to focus on motherhood, cooking, fun things to do with kids, or living a Christ-centered life. I look for encouragement, inspiration, ideas, and meals. Better Day, Movie Viewing Party

Today was MUCH better! Little was really well behaved and very sweet, and I woke up with a lot more patience. Maybe it was the weather, I don’t know. We’ve been in a SEVERE drought {as in worst in Texas history} and today was mostly overcast all day. I love cloudy days more than any other kind of day. That perked me up.

What a Week

…Whew. Ever have one of those weeks that you wish you’d had a forewarning about? Maybe a little disclaimer on Sunday would have been helpful. Something like, “Kat, this is future Kat. This week is really going to suck. If you’d like to, you can just lock yourself in your room and not come out again until next Sunday. Your choice.” Continue reading
